Nadeen School Champions Cancer Awareness and Mental Health Day

Education | Date: 15 October 2025 | Location: Manama

Promoting Compassion, Unity, and Well-being in the Community

On Friday 10th October, Nadeen School joined over 400 members of the wider community in a powerful show of support by taking part in the Race for Cancer Awareness. This community event brought together learners, staff, families, and supporters to walk or run in solidarity with those affected by cancer. Every step taken was a statement of compassion, strength, and unity. Suzanne Rodricks said a few words to mark the event.

“As we celebrate ‘Optimistic October’, we shine a light on both mental health and cancer awareness. We celebrate persons who bravely face their illness and also the family, friends, and caregivers who walk beside them. Together, we find strength, and we remember—no one fights alone. Raising awareness and supporting events such as the Race for Cancer Awareness or World Mental Health Day are powerful reminders of our shared humanity. They unite us around causes that matter deeply, health, compassion, and community, and help to challenge the stigma that too often surrounds illness and emotional well-being. Yet, our responsibility to one another extends far beyond a race, a day, or a single act. True impact is found in the small, everyday moments where empathy, understanding, and kindness shine through. By consistently demonstrating these qualities, we create an environment where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported, something that lies at the very heart of who we are as a school community.”

Nadeen School believes that empathy, kindness, and compassion are not simply virtues but essential skills for life, qualities that connect directly with their High Performance Learning (HPL) values. Through the development of empathy, resilience, and concern for society, learners grow into thoughtful, emotionally intelligent young people who make a difference both within and beyond the school.

Their involvement was about more than showing support for those fighting cancer. It was also about educating learners on the importance of a healthy lifestyle: an essential link between physical and mental well-being. The race coincided with World Mental Health Day, giving an opportunity to reinforce how mental and physical health are deeply interconnected.
Through classroom discussions, school-wide activities, and community engagement,  learners can understand:
● The value of healthy daily habits

● The importance of early detection and awareness

● The need for emotional support and mental health advocacy

● The power of empathy, kindness, and resilience
